Description

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. ~ Juliet Capulet

The desire for beauty, a connection to things that are lovely, the visual pull of it is something you crave. To be surrounded by beautiful people & things, to bathe in the warm luxury. From the eyes of science symmetry is the source of that beauty. The even flow strikes a chord deep within signalling something to you.

This immersion allows you to take in that which you surround yourself with. A prominent reminder that beauty can be found is the smallest things, the simplest gestures - like the softness of a rose petal or the vibrant color you behold.

As a lover of writing and all things written of course I love Shakespeare. But more than that I love the vibrancy that can be communicated with a few scant words, well placed. Here I've capture not words but another thing that inspires me often - color.

Perusing a wall of colors and textures I saw the frosted red beads jump out at me. I immediately thought of the brilliant beauty of a rose bush. I thought I would tuck them away for a rainy day of making, but the inspiration was to continue reminding me of some other bits that would go so nicely therewith.

How about those mixed green beads you have at home, wouldn't a leaf charm also be darling...what other treasures could I find to go with this budding piece?

Red is one of the typical colors one thinks of when considering roses. They are so timeless & classic, with an air of tradition. The green mix mimics the differing hues of green produced by the shading of the some of the leaves and not others. It & the red mix also add a bit of depth to the piece so it doesn't seem visually flat. And as with the red rose, silver is a classic & understated metal - a perfect compliment.

The rose is often thought of as a symbol of love, be it true, platonic, or star-crossed...I hoped to capture the meaning by way of color & charms providing a poignant visual reminder of the energy of rose.

This is also one of the few pieces where numerology didn't come much into play. I was experimenting with length & gauge to see how it would turn out and et voila!

However, as I always do I do check about the energy of the names that I use...this one resonates to 4/5/8. 4, the main energy of this piece, is grounding bringing up the root & foundation into play. 5 brings in the energy of reaching out, exploration, taking a chance (isn't that what blooming is all about?!) And finally 8 adds a layer of power, beauty, & grace here. All too appropriate for the rose don't you think?

Kumihimo is a Japanese form of weaving (braiding) which utilizes bobbins and a simple loom to create cords of various forms.

Features:
*A mixture of red frosted, red mix, & green mix seed beads. These struck me as representing the classic colors of the rose while also adding depth, subtle transition, & realism to the color palette beyond flat colors.
*Ombre color scheme. This aids in the subtle transition of the color palette + who doesn't love ombres?
*Rose & leaf charms. To add more visual context for the inspiration of the necklace's color scheme. The rose is an eternal symbol of devotion & love.
*Silver plated & sterling silver findings. Chosen to compliment without overshadowing the rest of the piece.
*Toggle clasp. This gives ease to wear & attaching, allowing you to avoid those weird arm movements to get the necklace on.
*Long line necklace. With even more beauty to behold, it's length also aids in putting it on pre-soire!

There's nothing more meaningful than something made with the conscious creative force. I pour a bit of my own energy into everything that I create. Making things is as easy as the demonstration & practice of a technique...but here I diverge, engaging in a process of Sacred Creation to capture the essence beyond the process from raw to refined.

To preserve the unique energy of my work most is exclusively made. I aim to never repeat custom work & to make everything in small batches (for those few things that may be reproduced again). And truly nothing is 100% reproduced. Allowing for each individual creation to retain it's own special magick!
